Review:
The effects and sounds are great. You will feel like you are part of the movie. I think it would be nice if the cinema have those used in 3D movies with really wide screen and moving chairs. As for the story, it reminds me of War of the Worlds as far as “awakening” a monster/alien that was hidden in the depths of the earth. What makes this movie unique and annoying to some is that this is supposedly taken by a handheld camera to make it more realistic. That would mean it is constantly moving. Too bad for people with motion sickness like me. I have to turn my eyes away from the screen a couple of times because I’m getting dizzy. There are times that I wish that the screen will be steady.

I don’t like the beginning of the movie though where there’s a farewell party. As a person who also uses handheld camera, I don’t move alot since I know it will not be nice to watch later on. I mean its ok during the time that they are running on the streets and all but at the party, I don’t think so.

The best part for me is the one where they boarded the black hawk. I’m already half expecting that the monster will suddenly show up but still I got surprised. As a viewer that was very realistic to me especially when the helicopter is now falling down, felt like I was one of the passengers too.

All in all this is a good movie. I like J.J. Abrams. I watch also his tv masterpiece - LOST. Steve actually was soo excited to see this and he insists that I watch it and his the biggest fan of LOST. hehe. I definitely recommend this movie but not for the faint hearted or those with motion sickness. Don’t expect to see big stars though which is actually what I like about this. Not very hollywoodish.*

* By the way, these are my own views and opinions about the movie. I’m not a professional movie critic. I only speak as a regular movie viewer like the most of us. You may or may not like this movie and as they say “to each his own”.
