Frienemy of the State

What is exactly a frienemy? It is a coinage of two words: friend and enemy. It is exactly what the name implies. I learned the meaning the hard way though - through experience.

A frienemy is an enemy disguising to be your friend. In short, he or she has been pretending to be your friend but has been stabbing you in the back. In one way or another, I can say that I have been a victim or I myself has been a frienemy as well. Yeah, that’s the truth.

I remember though about my frienemy encounter in the so-called corporate world. This person got me fooled really. Disguising to be this sweet innocent angel is one of her talents. Good thing that I have real good friends who warned me about her. Its funny that she would assume that I consider her a friend or maybe because she doesn’t know that I already know her true colors. I guess she is too stupid not to think that those people around her are her own worst frienemies. That’s what you call karma! I don’t think that she will ever have real friends. Maybe that’s why she’s considering changing zip codes, who knows?
