Food and Weight Loss
I have had several experience when it comes to dieting for weight loss. Most of it involves starving myself and of course that never works long term. I did a quick research online for food that can serve as natural fat burners. I’m not sure if they are 100% effective but I want to try them out and see if it will work. So, here’s a couple of food that might aid in weight loss:
- Citrus fruits
Citrus fruits or simply fruits rich in vitamin C like grapefruit, tangerines and oranges can help burn fat. Vitamin C helps in oxidation of fat thus helping in weight loss. - Apples and Pears
Both fruits are good sources of fiber. Fiber reduces cholesterol and control fat absorption. Also, apples and pears are quite filling which helps control overeating. - Nuts
This is a good solution for constant hunger pangs. It is considered a better alternative to other snacks like chips and cookies. They are high in fat so portion control is advised. Some nuts contain omega-3 fatty acids that helps fight heart disease. - Dark Chocolate
I’m not big in sweets so its easy for me to avoid chocolates in the store. However, it seems that dark chocolate aids in weight loss because of its antioxidant properties.
Crafts

Last night,I had a good chat with my family back home. They had visitors too and I got to talk to them online as well. My aunt, uncle, cousins, nephews and nieces were there. There was a bit of a riot but it was all good. It felt like I was there too. Thanks to the internet, I can talk and “see” them without the long distance costs. My sister-in-law, Cathy asked me what keeps me busy since I’m a stay-at-home wife for now. I showed her all my crafting projects. She can’t believe I’m now this crafty person. I can’t believe it myself. If my old me can see me right now, I won’t even recognize ME. Ok, that sounds confusing. Right now, my current hobby is cardmaking. I’m just starting to build my stash and tools. It may take a while but I’m glad every time I see another thing added. Cathy told me I can sell my creations online. That is quite an exciting idea but I think I need to master the craft first. Once I have streamlined my work, then I can start considering selling my crafts. It will be so wonderful to start earning with something that just started as a hobby. Thinking like a good businesswoman, I have to consider getting Total Merchant Services, computing the packaging and shipping costs etc. Ok, that is too much to handle since I’m just a newbie. For now, I will continue doing and enjoying my crafts.
New Addiction

Thanks to the husband, I have developed a new addiction to pistachio crisps. Pistachios are my most favorite nuts then come pecans and almonds. It all started with an innocent grocery shopping one day. We were so hungry and we needed a bit of snack to keep our grumbling tummies at bay while I prepare dinner. Normally, we just grab cheese sticks but the husband bought pistachio crisps instead. Dang! It was so good, I love it! I have successfully avoided donuts and chocolates in the store, now there’s a new reason to start taking Apidexin. Haha! Oh well, I guess I have to double up on my exercise routine so I can continue enjoying this snack.
Friday Fill-Ins

Another friday fill-ins…
- She had a great smile.
- My husband is by my side, always.
- I know this: I will want more craft supplies after getting a new tool.
- Be still.
- These words apply to me: greatest procrastinator.
- Time went by fast, another day has ended. It seem that it was just a minute ago when the sun was shining.
- And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to a long night sleep, tomorrow my plans include making several blog posts and reviewing my DMV handbook for road signs and Sunday, I want to wake up on time to go to church!
Playing the Piano
One of my frustrations is not being able to play any musical instrument. Not to say that I did not have any chances. When I was young, an old woman used to teach me to play piano but I decided to stop because we don’t even own a piano and I hate going to the neighbor’s house just to be able to play. I do sometimes regret not being able to finish my lessons but I don’t think it is too late to learn.
Believe it or not, there are piano lessons being offered online. They even give out free sheet music to practice on. I saw on the website yokewong.net that they provide lessons for beginners as well as advanced piano players. They have the most basic lessons such as recognition of piano keys and reading notes from a music sheet. I would love to learn how to play classical tunes like “The Swan” or “Claire De Lune” someday.
