Rainy Friday
It is already raining as of the moment. The cat is hiding under the bed as always. It is dark outside and I miss my lovely sun.
It seems so gloomy every time it rains and your alone inside the house. Judging by the look of the radar (below), it is raining all over Florida.

Hopefully, it will be sunny this weekend. Rain is fine but I don’t like thunderstorms nor do I like hail. When there’s lightning, I’m limited in doing things. I need to unplug all electrical devices and can’t use anything that is connected with pipes. If in case you’re wondering, lightning reaches the ground here so we have to be very careful with our appliances and also water to avoid getting electricuted. Rain or shine, I’m happy because the husband have weekends off. I hope you enjoy your weekend too. Happy weekend, folks!
Driving Moment
As I mentioned on my previous post, I have already started driving on the main road. We live right next to the highway so there are no small roads to practice on. I’m thankful though that we live in a small town so that also means fewer vehicles. My first ever long drive took me to three counties. I went through the backstreets though because I’m not ready yet for the interstate.
Last weekend, I drove again but just on a nearby town. It was busy there and I was able to practice my stop and turns. I also practiced reverse parking (which was so difficult for me) at an almost empty parking lot. On the way home, I got a little brave and took the interstate. It was a quick 10 mins drive home at 70mph. I felt accomplished after that but I think I will stay off the freeway for now. Hehe.
WW: Little Burglar
A Sweet Surprise

I just want to share some of the events that happened last night. My ever sweet husband surprised me. He had it all planned without telling me (which is why its a surprise). When he got home, he went inside and started preparing to take his shower (not unusual). He then asked me to get newspapers he ‘forgot’inside the car. Yep, he pulled an oscar worthy act for that. when I got inside with the newspapers in hand, he suddenly exclaimed “Don’t come in here!”. That’s when I realized he is up to something. After say, 3 mins of waiting, he then let me inside. I did not see anything unusual in the office area or the bedroom. I asked him what he’s up to and he gave me a bag of my favorite pistachios and a bottle of beer. I got so distracted with the beer that I did not realize there’s a dozen on long stemmed red roses on top of my laptop with a card and a pink wireless mouse! I did not know it was a gift night and I was in the receiving end. Thanks a bunch hun and sorry I forgot to cook the right dish for dinner.
Shoe Shopping
I spend a couple of minutes each day to look for work shoes for the Husband. Since his job requires a lot of lifting, he needs shoes that will provide him good support. We are looking into getting him a pair of Cayman or Specialist Crocs which are hideous but comfy.;) This small task gives me an opportunity to look at women shoes as well. Yes, I can never have enough shoes (what do you know, I’m a girl). LOL. Just a quick side story, when I came here from the Philippines and unpacked my luggagge, my then-fiance (husband now) was surprised at the number of shoes I brought. He said I’m like Imelda Marcos. I don’t think I have too many. I even gave away some to my sister-in-law and cousins before I left. I’m sure a lot of women have more shoes than I have. There are still some type of shoes that I want to add to my collection. A pair of Ugg shoes is on the top of my list. My feet easily get cold so they can be very handy during fall and winter months. I also want a pair of womens athletic shoes because my old pair is already wearing out.

some of my colorful shoes
If you have noticed in the picture, I have lots of flats. They are very comfy but still fashionable. I would like to have some tory burch reva flats in different colors (colors that I don’t have yet). Thanks to online stores like Jildor, I can ‘browse’ different shoes in different styles in just a click of the button. I don’t have to spend the whole day in a mall going through one store to another.
Grill Thrill
We are now officially addicted to grilling. Ever since we bought that grill, we have been grilling whenever we can. I’m not complaining though!
We both miss eating grilled food but we don’t want to spend a lot of money on a nearby restaurant. It just happened one day. We were in the garden section of the store with all the pond supplies, seeds, soil and what-not, we found a tiny grill.
It was just a spur of the moment decision to buy it. I made pork barbecue before using our slow cooker and the oven. It was good but it just doesn’t taste as good as the grilled. We might try grilling chicken this weekend also.
By the way, I have been driving all over town for days now. It was exciting and nerve racking at the same time. That deserve a separate post though.
Pursuing Graduate Studies
Before finishing the bachelors degree, most students plan on getting their MBA after graduation. However, this plan goes down the drain once they graduate and start working. There are just so many things that get in the way like the need to immediately have a job to sustain daily living, time constraints, and of course no adequate funding for tuition fee. I for one considered taking up graduate studies but later on gave up on the idea.
Just the other day, I found a school that provides an online MBA. The University of Scranton MBA program is 100% online. Based on the information I have gathered, online students will get the same courses and faculty just like their on-campus students. The school is making use of technology to reach out to students in different locations. This means students can access their coursework wherever they are. They can also help out in getting financial aid for the students. This school is worth checking out not only for the convience of taking up their MBA program but also the quality of education they provide. The University of Scranton is one of the top 15 schools according to The Princeton Review.
