WW: Glossy Reader

To lighten up the mood a bit on this blog, I’m joining this week’s wordless Wednesday. After a quick bathroom break, I caught this little boy getting his hands on the magazine. I quickly grabbed my camera and snap a pic. After that, well, he won’t budge and just wants it all to himself.

Online Donation

Here is another option to help for those of us who are not able to volunteer or to donate in kind like me.  A group of bloggers organized an online donation that will benefit PNRC (Philippine National Red Cross).  If you live outside the Philippines, you can send in your donations via paypal.  Click the widget below and donate any amount you can for typhoon Ondoy victims.  It is a legit site and accredited by PNRC.  If you want further details about this project, you can visit www.philippineaid.com

Animals Need Help Too

help us

They are often the forgotten victims of calamities like this.   PAWS also needs donation for the rescue pets.  I snagged this info straight from paws.org.ph :

Drop-Off Point for Donations
For those who cannot go to the shelter to drop off donations, you may drop off your donations of food, medicines – DURING OFFICE HOURS (10am to 5pm only) at

2-B Legaspi St., Philam Homes Subdivision
West Avenue, Quezon City
c/o Mr. Rich Ilustre, PAWS Director

We are in urgent need of roofed dog cages and pet carriers. Pet food, pails, basins, old blankets and towels, emergency lights, portable mini-Gasul burner/stove and drinking water for humans. Medicines such as antibiotics, injectable sedatives, dextrose, etc will also be appreciated.

Kindly email both lizaumayam@yahoo. com and philpaws@yahoo. com or post in the PAWS Facebook account for any messages you may have although it may take us a while to reply to them.

We have offered our shelter as an evacuation center where there is a volunteer veterinarian standing by, so please just bring the rescued animals to PARC- Aurora Boulevard, Katipunan Valley, Loyola Heights, QC  (http://parc. mefindhome. org  for map and directions). We are right at the boundary of Marikina and Quezon City.

Volunteer veterinarians who may want to volunteer, please contact Mrs. Lichauco at 724-1986

Thank you.

Typhoon Ondoy

This past weekend a very tragic turn of events happened in my home country, the Philippines.  It was hit really hard by the typhoon Ondoy (international name: Ketsana).  It brought a lot of rainfall that flooded the metro and all its surrounding areas.  It has gotten worse that people were stuck on the roofs of their houses needing rescue.  Just check out google images and youtube and you will see what I mean.   I’m thankful that my family and loved ones are safe but a lot of people need help.  I’m re-posting this off of google:

The Emmys

ben and olive
Olive Snook and Benjamin Linus

Before I go hunting for free directory submissions, I just want to mention about the recent emmy awards. I’m so happy that my two bets won this year. Kristen Chenoweth won as best supporting actress in a comedy for Pushing Daisies.  She did well on the show and I liked it even more when she sings on some scenes.  I miss the show. :( I hope ABC or another network will bring it back. It was a lovely show.  Kudos to Bryan Fuller!

Michael Emerson also won an award that night for LOST. He is such a good actor that even when he is just being Michael, he still gives me the creeps. Haha. Benjamin Linus will always be in my nightmares.
