Hats Off

I have the sewing machine for at least 2 weeks now. I already made some simple sewing projects as soon as I got it. Aside from the curtains, I made berets using my sewing machine. I always wanted a knitted beret but just couldn’t find ones that I like. I checked in youtube for some tuts and I was able to get an idea. The only problem is that the measurements were not given out meaning I have to pay for the pattern. Since I’m all-the-way cheapo (hehe), I googled for some free tuts with measurements that I can use. I was lucky enough to find this site that not only has a tutorial but also the measurements that I need. I followed the same concept but I tweaked mine a bit. I used my old sweater for the first beret.

red beret

It really looks slouchy which is what I really wanted. The only thing that I don’t like is that it is a bit loose. No biggie though because I can always use hair pins to keep it in place.  Thanks to good ‘ol photoshop, I don’t have any rashes on this pics. Bleh :-P

blue beret

Not satisfied with just one beret, I thrifted a blue sweater and made another one from it. I changed the measurements a bit so that it won’t be as loose as the other one. I have so much excess fabric that I decided to make gloves too.:) Hmmm, I look like a prim and proper European lady.  Hehe.  Maybe its time for the husband to look for travel deals for a european tour.:-P Seriously, I’m all set for winter. These should keep me warm during our walks near the lake.
