Death Proof

Lately, death has become a topic of interest. (Not really my favorite topic because it still makes me cringe just thinking about it. ) First, during our regular walks, I mentioned to the husband about big mausoleums of rich families in the Philippines. I showed him one on a blog that I follow and he was amazed by it. But I told him how I’m more amazed how our previous church here have free plots for the members who have passed away. Where I came from, the cemetery plots are more expensive than housing lots for the living. It makes you want to live forever like Richard Alpert. No wonder family members who are left behind always argue because of funeral costs!

Spring Is Here

dragonfly
This was last summer's dragonfly.
Ignore the nerd girl in the background <3

Yesterday, I saw my first dragonfly for the year. A true sign that spring has finally arrived. Also, my mother-in-law mentioned that she heard the whippoorwill the other night and that bird only stays here in the south during spring to summer season. As for the temperature, it is getting warmer. Oh, I would love to plant flowers and fruit bearing trees here but we left all our gardening stuff back home. We will have to figure out soon how to make the A/C work here before summer comes. We are pretty much decided where will stay but there are still some things that we need to get in order. Our stuffs are in between two different places which are miles apart. At least, we don’t have to worry about home insurance for now. I’m happy that spring is here. It’s time to put away the winter clothes, heater and electric blanket!Oh and by the way, I’m back to putting up my own pictures upon request of my number  1 fan – the husband. :)

Current Reads

shopknotI have been going to the library here frequently.  I was able to finish two books last week and I just borrowed another two.  I’m keen in finishing the shopaholic series.  I immediately went over and look up the last two in the series – Shopaholic Ties the Knot and Shopaholic and Baby.  I already started reading a couple of pages on the first book.  Hopefully, I will be done with this before the due date comes. You will be surprise how many opportunities you can take to start reading a book.shopbaby I got the idea from one famous makeup guru in Youtube.  If you live in the city where you have to wait for mostly everything then take those opportunities to read.  An example is waiting for the bus, or waiting in line to pay for groceries.  I actually did that today while I was waiting for the husband in the parking lot.  I managed to read a couple of pages.  Tonight, I will read a couple more but I won’t be able to stay up too long though because tomorrow will be a very busy day.  Anyway, that’s all for now about reading and books.  Good night!

Blogging Like Crazy

This blog has never rested for a few days straight now. I kept blogging whatever comes to my mind which is good I suppose. I just felt working diligently on the blog in between side trips with the husband. Hey, I have even been including good photos so thumbs up for me, right? LOL. I’m taking a break with my other hobbies because I left my tools in our other house. I’m itching to sew some clothes or outdoor cushions for the summer but I don’t have my sewing machine with me. And that my friend is the reason why you are reading a lot of posts from me this past few days. Oops, it is already past midnight (my time) and I will have to wake up early tomorrow morning so this will be the last post tonight. I need to finish reading my book before I sleep. Good night!

Tax Season

tax

It is that time of the year again to file taxes. We are already done filing so that’s a weight off of our shoulders. I still consider filing taxes here quite complicated. We don’t have any plans yet to shop for life insurance, we are just looking for accurate term life insurance quotes for now. That should make filing easier next year. In the Philippines, I don’t worry about these things. Every company I work for handled the filing of taxes for me. Here, it is a different story. I’m glad I don’t have to do it all by myself because I have the husband who handles our taxes. Also, I’m thankful for the Turbo Tax software for making life easier for us.
