Memorial Day Weekend

It is a long weekend here in my side of the world. However, we won’t be enjoying the extra day off because the husband will have to go to work that day. Me, I’m just happy that it is already the weekend. I’m not sure yet what to do for our “us” time but I want to do something fun. Going to a theme park is not an option right now. I bet even if I own a property near one, I would probably sell my timeshare.

Last night, we already went out to buy groceries which I think was a smart move. That way, we were able to avoid huge crowds shopping for the long weekend. There is also a big chance that the store will run out of party supplies like booze and chips. Since we don’t have any concrete plans for the weekend yet (other than our usual routine), I might be able to squeeze in a craft project. I’m not sure though what to make. Everything is still undecided except my plan of getting a lot of sleep. Hehe.

Friday Fill Ins

friday

  1. Philly Cheesesteaks — the best food to take on a picnic.
  2. Summer is here.
  3. Fire ants hinder me from wearing flip flops.
  4. To love someone is the most beautiful (but can sometimes be the most painful) experience in a person’s life.
  5. I don’t think I can handle a long hike. That is why I need to start exercising again, and perhaps do a monthly colon cleansing.
  6. When I crave food, it’s usually junk food.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to a relaxing night with drinks and a movie, tomorrow my plans include visiting relatives and Sunday, I want to go to church and do a fun activity with the husband!

Ready, Set, Launch!

atlantis launch

I was able to witness the launch of Atlantis for its final journey to space. Thank goodness the husband reminded me about it else I would have missed it because I was busy browsing for a plasma mount. This is one of the perks living closer to the space station. I can now see space shuttle launches better from where I live. The launch was quick and I didn’t even had the time to go up the roof to get a better view. My camera was only able to capture what was left of the smoke from the shuttle. :( I’m not too crazy about going to outer space but I do want to experience some sort of shuttle simulation ride. I’m also a huge fan of planetariums. I hope I can go visit one soon.

Face Painting

Like most women, I prefer to don a bare face at home.  It’s easy and no need to pop an additional acne vitamin.  Lately, I have abandoned my no-fuzz-fresh-face routine and upgraded it to a full on makeup.  This sounds weird since I’m a stay-at-home wife.  I just kinda miss the good old days when I used to prep for work.  It also became my outlet for creativity.  As I have told the husband, I consider my face as my blank canvass and the makeup are my paints.  Lastly, it helps me to feel confident since I’m overly shy.  I’m not sure if its the same for other women, but for me, I always dress good or put on makeup for myself.  It sounds vain and narcissistic but looking good helps me in feeling good.  I’m no expert in makeup so this recent makeup routine also helps me to practice before I scare anyone when I go out.  LOL.

Ten Thousand Lightning Bugs

me and my fake fireflies

After so many years, I get to see fireflies again. It has been awhile and honestly, I cannot remember the last time I saw them in my hometown. Even dragonflies are now a rare site too. Blame it on pollution and the diminishing number of trees in the area. I don’t recall studying them in school. (I do remember though how the school furniture used to be). I’m lucky that I get to see these beautiful insects again. I’m not a big fan of insects though, just a select few. Anyway, yesterday, I saw a bunch of fireflies all over the yard. It was a beautiful site! They showed up just before it went totally dark. I was not successful in taking a picture because my camera doesn’t work well with minimal light. Oh well, I’m happy though that I get to see them again. The next generation won’t be as lucky as I am because sadly, fireflies are disappearing due to light pollution.
