Movie Night: Sucker Punch

I have been waiting for this movie for months! I finally got to watch it last Sunday night. Despite the err tummy troubles from eating Chinese food, we went out and watched the movie anyway. I love all the actions scenes of Baby Doll. I’m not a big fan of Sweet Pea though because I have never been fond of Abbie Cornish. As for Vanessa Hudgens, she didn’t do much in the movie. Her role seems to be more like a cameo.
There were three worlds in the movie. My favorite is the fantasy world because that’s where you see all the actions. Somehow the effects reminds me of Lord of the Rings and there was a scene in there where you see Orcs. I kid you NOT. I went there for the fight scenes and good cinematography. The story was bland but doesn’t suck as much as War of the Worlds or Tron:Legacy. Emily Browning played the role well. She seems to be always get the young crazy girl roles. Remember, Uninvited? As for the cinematography, it looks like a hybrid of Watchmen and Sin City.
I can just imagine the girls’ outfit as Halloween costumes. However, if you plan to don Baby Doll’s clothes, a flat stomach is a requirement. Start stocking up on conjugated linoleic acid (cla) now. There’s still a couple of months to go to work those abs out.

Craft Attack
After almost 2 years, my scrapping mojo is back. I used to labor for hours working on a photo book. The husband said that I go through creative phases. I had my photography phase where I want to snap pictures of just about anything. Then I also got into the the scrapbook phase. I made three photo books so far. Then, I got into the sewing phase where I mutilate my old clothes and make them into something else. I’m currently in the middle of a sewing project. But not because I’m on that phase but I took the offer of our Aunt to teach me how to sew. Then, I got into web design phase where I made several sites for different things and yeah even a Gossip Girl fan site.

They say being a “jack of all trades” is a good thing. It is always good to be a well rounded person. The problem is Jack or in my case “Jill” can’t afford all of these hobbies. Hence, the need for phases.
Yes, I do admit I have a an addiction to crafting. Way better than painkillers right? I don’t need to go for oxycodone percocet addiction detox. But the thought of going to a relaxing place with a great view and a meal prepared by a world class chef sound appealing. Maybe there should also be a crafting addiction detox.
Spring Forward
Spring is officially here! I have been spending most of the time outdoors and enjoying the weather. I love my bike to bits eventhough it makes my legs and but hurt after biking uphill. Every time I see my bike park in the garage, I just had to ride it. Silly, I know! Hopefully, it will help with the weight loss.
Other than that, I have also been working on my garden. The husband already tilled the ground for me. I was able to plant a row of tomatoes, a row of bell peppers and a row of okra. I also scattered some flower seeds in our fence line. I just have to keep on watering them though because our weather gets too hot in the middle of the day. Sometimes it is hard to keep up with the watering since I sleep during the day. I prefer to water them early morning before I go to sleep rather than waking up early before the sun comes down.
The now sad looking hydrangeas that I got for my birthday. It used to be inside the house until it starts drooping. I put it outside right next to the garden so it can get some sunlight and also for me not to forget watering it with the rest of the plants. I can see new leaves now and I take that as a good sign.
My garden gets a good amount of sunlight during the day but it also partly shaded. This is what I see when I look up while gardening.
I will be working on another sewing project soon. The last one I made was a tulip skirt that I haven’t worn yet. My next project will be an A line skirt. One day, I’m hoping to be so good at sewing that I can just make nursing scrubs for the husband. As you can see, I’m Spring is quite hectic! How about you? What’s keeping you busy this Spring?
My Night Owl Survival Ways

I had my fair share of night shifts when I used to work for call center companies. Now as a housewife, I still keep up with the husband’s night shift schedule. In this way, we can spend the same waking moments together for a little bit before he goes to work, have lunch together and sleep side by side. Some folks have asked me how I keep myself awake at night while the husband is at work. I came up with somethings I usually do to keep me awake at night.
- Stay away from the bedroom. As they say, out of sight, out of mind. I usually stay in our office/living room area or in the kitchen when I need to prepare our meal.
- Play music. Pandora is my bestfriend at night. I rarely use the radio because most radio stations play slow music at night. I don’t want a lullabye so I stick with upbeat music to keep me up and going like a honda generator.
- Get busy. I treat my nights just like what I would treat my days. I’m obsessed with writing to-do lists so I make one each night. Then I tackle them one by one. Whether it is washing clothes or dishes, cleaning, writing a letter or making a card, these tasks keep me busy and most importantly AWAKE at night.
- A little caffeine doesn’t hurt. I like drinking coffee per se so this is a no brainer for me. I have noticed though that I really feel tired right after eating. Drinking coffee after a meal helps in getting my groove back.
- Chat with friends and families. There is a 12hr difference between my home country to the state where I live in. This is a perfect opportunity to chat with them because they are all awake and enjoying their day time.
I hope my list of tricks helps other night owls like me. I will be off to be soon. Another night has passed. Good morning!
Just Like Riding A Bicycle
After months of talking about them, the husband and I finally got our bikes. The other day, we biked through the trails from one town to another with a total of 10 miles. I was first nervous about riding the bike since it has been ages since I rode one My mom banned me from biking when I was around 9 because of fear of losing my virginity. LOL. Weird but true. Asian moms are the just like that. Hehe. Anyway, so once we got to the parking lot, I tested out my bike and sorta practice on biking. I re-learned it within a minute. The trail was a nice straight paved road. There were trees on both sides of the trails which minimizes sun exposure. I still used sunscreen though! It was a breezy ride through the trails and met other bikers and joggers along the way. Someone complimented my bike and I smiled from ear to ear, beaming like I own a Rolls Royce! I enjoyed biking immensely but the ride back was terrible. My legs and butt were sore. I kept stopping with each mile. At one point, the husband had to pull me so I don’t have to pedal. Hard to imagine but he did. I was so happy to see the exit of the trail. I barely made it back to the parking lot where we left our car.
Right now, I’m laying in bed with my legs stretched out and enjoying some kitty love from Toby. I just took two ibuprofen and had hot compress on the sore areas. I think it will be awhile till I will bike again. My muscles need to recover. Hopefully, it will be bearable the next time I do a 10 mile bike ride.
