MOSI

For some reason, I haven’t gotten around in posting this. Better late than never! ;) We went to the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa, Florida last February. The husband has been going there for years while it was the first time for me.

MOSI

We went to the IMAX dome theatre first. With all their exhibits, this is the one I enjoyed the most. While waiting for the show to start, there was a weird couple behind us talking about errr inappropriate things not meant for a place like this. Geez, people there are kids in this museum!

I want to be big!!!!!

I just need to have a picture beside this guy.
If you don’t know him, search for “Big” in Tom Hanks’ profile in IMDB.

isdatchu arnold?

This one has an uncanny lookalike. “I’ll be back.” :-D

The biggest let-down for me is the planetarium as I was really looking forward for it. It was a lecture type presentation which made it a bore. I prefer a planetarium show instead. Oh and if you do ever plan on going to the planetarium, make sure you ask for the tickets. They issue separate tickets for that. We didn’t know that and the ticket booth personnel did not tell us either. We were able to get in but only because there were not a lot of people coming in.

I ate a watermelon.

I also looked at the fetal specimens from 6 weeks to 6 months. Studies about paternity testing while pregnant, and determining dominant and recessive traits would be a good addition in this exhibit. Looking at the specimens made me a little nervous though because they are actual babies, dead babies. :(

It reminds me so much of Museo Pambata (Children’s Museum) in the Philippines. With that said, MOSI is more for the kids than the adults. We both felt that we have outgrown most of the exhibits.  Still, that didn’t stop us from having fun.

First Crochet Creation

I mentioned about adding crocheting as one of my new hobbies. My ’sewing teacher’ who also crochets gave me some of her supplies. She can no longer crochet because of a bad shoulder. She gave me copies of self-taught crocheting lessons. I started my very first project which is a potholder. I can’t seem to do it right as I keep on losing stitches. I gave up after a couple of trial and MORE errors than I can count.

Let me confess about something. I have avoided crocheting like a plague. In elementary school, I can only crochet a chain. That’s about the extent of my knowledge in crocheting. Anyway, while browsing online to get some crochet inspiration, I discovered AMIGURUMI. As defined by wikipedia – Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. In my head, it was basically making cute things by crocheting. I have a weak spot on anything cutesy. So there’s my crochet inspiration that I have been looking for. My first crochet/amigurumi project is this:

tweetheart
Aptly named “Tweetheart”. Made for my sweetheart.♥

Right now, I’m still building my skill level on crocheting. Once I get better at this, I will be able to combine it with a bit of jewelry design since I made a necklace before. I’m thinking of making name tags for my tiny creatures with the use of a metal punch. That would be a subtle yet a nice addition to my creations.

Happy 4th of July!

Friday Fill Ins

    friday fill in
  1. Blue skies minus the humidity is the perfect weather.
  2. Let’s go travel down the memory lane once more.
  3. Kids won’t stay kids forever so cherish each moment with them.
  4. Good weather, sand in my toes, calm beach waves; these are some of the best things about vacation.
  5. Love is in the air.
  6. Is there such a thing as submarine races?
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to getting back on track by finishing what I started, tomorrow my plans include spending quality time with my husband, sneaking in some research about the e cigarette and maybe some amigurumi and Sunday, I want to attend the Sunday church service and bible study!

EDIT:  I just realized that I used last week’s Friday Fill Ins!  So if you are seeing a different post now, I made a mistake and already corrected it.  Thanks for reading!

Current Read: Something Blue

something blueAs soon as I got this book in my hands, I already started reading.  I can’t put it down despite the fact that I don’t like the character, Darcy Rhone.  Just because I feel that I’m a Rachel – her ex-bff.  After I read Something Blue, I was contemplating hard if I will buy this book.  I read several book reviews before I decided.  My thrifty heart got the best of me so I went ahead and borrowed it from the library.  I already finished it reading it.  I don’t think it even lasted for three days. Now, I can finally watch the movie.  I don’t want the movie to spoil my book reading so that’s why I waited.  Plus, normally, they do shortcuts in movies which somehow changes the story.  I recommend this book even if you are not a big fan of Darcy.  Hey, everyone is not ultimately evil.  People do change.  Also, read this if you want an update about Rachel and Dex.  I think want to read another Emily Giffin book.
