Car Identification

Trucks are prevalent in our county.  Seeing trailer hitches is quite common because folks need to haul heavy items like farming tools and livestock.  Still, I’m not familiar with the brand or type of each truck.

If a car passed by and you asked me what type/kind it is, I won’t be able to tell you anything.  I won’t be able to tell apart a Ford from a Chevy unless I look at the label from the outside.  Perhaps, the only thing that I will be able to tell is the color. :)    My knowledge of cars is VERY limited and I normally identify them by the type of personality it ‘looks’ like.   Here’s my own classification of cars:

Oh Irene

A big hurricane is hammering the east coast. I’m glad we are spared from that bad weather. The husband is of course dismayed because he love storms! Now, because of the news about Irene (yep, that’s the hurricane’s name), the husband and I had a conversation where we would go if we had to evacuate. We can’t think of any! We are living in a hurricane prone state so I’m sure there will be fiberglass storm shelters in the area. Anyway, the sun is so bright outside today. I think I may just cut the grass today. ;)

It’s Here!

my smash book

I’m so happy that my Orange Smash book has already arrived. The seller was fast and I appreciate it a lot. I already started working on a page. Actually, it has been sitting for a day or two in my table because I kept conceptualizing of what I need to put on it. That kind of thinking defeats the purpose of a Smash book so I said “What the hell! Just smash stuff, Jen!”

Today, I got some photos from Walmart’s 1-hour photo lab. Now, I have photos to smash too. I hope I will receive my fabric tapes soon. I’m really enjoying this “unscrapbook” idea. It’s an easy way to get the creative juice flowing without over analyzing. After working on a page, I can just switch back to homemaker mode and go wash the laundry or read the 5th wheel warranty contract. I don’t have to feel torn in choosing between chores and scrapbooking.

Smashing Idea

I have not made any scrapbook page digital or traditional in a long time.  I just somehow lost my mojo in creating them.  Lately, I have been thinking about documenting life again in somewhat scrapbook format but it just requires a lot of thinking i.e. conceptualizing and papers.  I’m already immersed in sewing and crocheting at the moment that I wouldn’t have time to do that.  Then comes, Smash Book which I discovered while browsing scrapbooking sites.  It is not a new idea but will work out with the dilemma I’m in.  For further information, watch the video below.

As always with shopping, I waited and waited and waited.  This is despite the fact that I already know which particular Smash Book I want and already own different things to smash.  I know if I don’t buy it soon, I will regret it when they ran out.  I always feel guilty shopping for myself and I don’t know if it has anything to do with being a stay-at-home wife (for now).  Anyway, I bit the bullet and bought the orange one and I cannot wait for it to arrive!

I Made A Beanie!

I’m all set for winter, NOT! Actually, I have just been enamored with crocheting that I keep on making things. Other than making cutesy amigurumi toys, one of the things that I have really been wanting to make is a beanie. I have always wanted a slouchy beanie/beret but I would often stop myself from buying it. I just can’t find exactly what I want and if I do, the price is way too expensive for an accessory. Armed with basic crocheting skills and a youtube video, I was able to make one! Here’s how it looks:

I still have other different colored yarns. I want to make more! I’m also looking for a different yet easy pattern. Just so I can have different styles of beanies this winter. My head will be warm this coming winter! :)

Crocheting is such a good stress reliever. However, I cannot make these beanies for my side of the family because they live in a tropical country. My mother who is by the way a good cook, would want a restaurant equipment that she can use every time she hosts a party. This topic for another day. Hehe. I still have to earn for that nice industrial-type mixer that she likes.
