Merry Blogging

I want to start a series this December in this blog which involves putting up a blog post every single day.  I will call it “Merry Blogging Series”.  It will not necessarily involve only Christmas-y topics but just some random posts too.  I blogged every single day on November at my other blog.  I really enjoyed it and I want to continue the fun by doing it here this month.

Sleeplessness

One of the issues I had with a night shift schedule was sleeping in the morning.  It is too bright and I can also hear different sounds and noises of people, things and animals.  When I got married, even if I don’t work at night, I follow the husband’s schedule which is also a graveyard shift.  We tried our best to make our bedroom conducive for day time sleeping.  I sew curtains that will filter out the sunlight, the husband blocked our skylight and we informed our neighbors (who are our relatives) of the schedule that we have.  Now, sleeping during the day is better but still not as great during the night.   There are times that the light is just too bright or we get certain disturbances because we can’t really tell everyone to stop their world from revolving because we are sleeping.   The noise is not much of a problem because we live in a partially rural area.  Unlike those who live in the big city, a white noise machine is a must.  Now that we are transitioning to colder weathers, it has been easier to sleep.  The temperature is nice and not much noise outside because nobody wants to do outside work.

World Wide Web

I have been slowly building a section on my Google Reader meant for people I really know.  I was actually surprised that I have several blogs listed there already.  The internet is a good outlet to share your feelings and opinions but expect harsh criticisms and some bashing.  However, there are also a special group of people who leaves you with encouraging comments and constructive criticisms.

I know there are several things not to like about the interwebs but there are several things that it has done for me that made my life extra sweeter.  For one, I met the love of my life online.  We have been together for a total of 7 years now.  Then, there is also the convenience of immediately learning about discounts that proflowers offer just by following them via twitter.  Living oceans away from my family became bearable with skype conversations.  Also, there is the joy in finding and reconnecting with long lost friends.  Just like with any other things, it has a good and bad side to it.  We just need to use it with caution.

Monopoly Night

The husband bought the Monopoly board game months ago but we never got to used until now. The other night, instead of watching our usual Sci-fi show, we played the game. Other than the board game itself, we needed a few other things:

Then, the game began. Can you guess which pewter pawn is mine? ;)

The husband won! I told him to show off his winnings Too bad, he can’t use that ‘money’ to get himself a pristine titanium watch bracelet.

And of course, I just have to be silly and do this.

Next time we go to the toy store, I think I want to get the Scrabble game. I can beat his arse in that game! Hehe. Oh and I’m always curious about the game “Sorry!” so I might get that one too.

Perseverance

I’m still in the market for a decent job.  Last year, I was thinking that 2011 would be the year to finally get one.  I was quite busy applying for jobs.  Now that the year is almost to its end, I feel a little bit discouraged as to when can I really have that coveted job.  There were job openings for  Business Analyst Jobs and I was even offered to apply for one.  Unfortunately, it was located a long way from where I live.  I was once again reminded of the disadvantages of living in a partially rural town.  We don’t have any plans on moving to a bigger city.  I actually prefer living in this town and how serene and calm it is at night.  Though jobs are not as abundant compared to big cities, there are still job opportunities here and I just need to persevere and keep on applying.
