Easy Moving
Guest written by our friend Katie Callahan
I helped my sister move into her new house this weekend. She is such a minimalist compared to me. After we moved her bedroom furniture, and living room furniture, it was about 20 boxes of stuff and we were done. It was actually relatively easy. Of course, I guess after moving my family of 5 two years ago (which was quite traumatic for everyone involved), moving a single girl is a breeze. We were done getting everything out of the truck and into the house by lunch. My sister told my dad and husband where she wanted them to put her big furniture, my mom ordered pizza and I jumped on my ipad to get my sister’s TV set up. She didn’t care what provider I chose for her (she’s so easy come, easy go) but I went to http://www.Direct.TV/ and showed her the package that my husband and I have. She was happy with that. I also helped her with a couple other small things, then we all sat down to eat some pizza and rest.
December Daily Favorite Pages
I just want to share my favorite pages from my December Daily Album. It was hard labor doing the entire album in a week but I enjoyed every bit of it. My table was cluttered for a long time but once I was finished with the project, I was able to put every thing back into place which made the husband happy.

Music Phases
I went through different phases as far as listening to music goes. Much like other people, the genre or type of music I listen to depend on the state of my life during that particular period of time. Though, I never really wandered far from my usual type, I have noticed varying degrees of differences.
I grew up with my parents playing songs from Frank Sinatra and Doris Day. It still surprises the husband of how much I know of old songs. Hehe. With that kind of exposure most of my childhood life, I picked up songs here and there that I still remember now.
I did go through the rock band phase but not as hard core as my brother. When he listens to hard metal music, one can only hear a mix of growls and guitar noise. I was more into slow rock or just a little upbeat ones. This phase actually encouraged me to learn how to play guitar. Now that I think about it, I should have stayed longer in that phase. It would have been nice to master guitar playing and knowing how to use d’addario strings. It was something that I really enjoyed around that time compared to my stressful piano lessons.
These days, I listen to mostly RnB or techno/electronic music. The latter is a new discovery. I never really liked it before but I do now. I still go for the ones easy on the ears though.
My December Daily Album
Most crafters make theirs during December but I opted to make mine after the crazy holidays have passed. Since printer ink is pretty much like liquid gold, I had the photos printed in a photo center instead. I used mainly the “Holly Jolly Collection Kit” by Echo Park. I also use some letter stickers and papers from my stash. This is my first time making this album and I would love to make it again next Christmas. Here’s how the finished album looks like:

Things I learned while creating this project:
-
Cut the papers first to make assembly faster and easier
-
.Have a good stock of adhesive in hand.
-
Plain or subtly designed papers work well. They don’t have to be Christmas themed because the embellishments will make up for it. Patterned papers make them very busy looking.
-
Take more than one picture each day.
-
Write or blog about each day so that it would easy to go back and recall what happened on that day.
-
For a thicker album, make 2 pages for each day.
Moving to Calgary
I know neighbors, former co workers, classmates and friends who have chosen to move and live in Canada. Quite a difficult choice because the weather alone is a total opposite from a tropical country. Sometimes we have to get out of our comfort zones to be able to move up.
Calgary is home to many Asian immigrants. According to population census, there are about 25,000 Filipinos living there in 2006. There has been a significant increased of migration to Calgary. Quality of life seems to be good there. With petroleum as the city’s main commodity, their economy is doing well. In fact, their unemployment rate is amongst the lowest in Canada.
Going around the city is easy because the city offers public transportation. There are buses and light rail trains that goes around Calgary. As far as education, there is an abundance of both private and public schools in Calgary and that includes several universities and colleges. The only downside in living in this city is that buying a home can be quite expensive since it is one of the major cities of Canada. Renting a home is the best option for the city dwellers. It allows them to move around and gives time to save up for their dream home.
