V-Day Gift Ideas

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and gift choices are getting slimmer by the minute.  There’s a sea of stuffed toys and heart shaped chocolate boxes in the store but do you really want to give a run-of-the-mill gift?  I suggest making it special and think of something that your special someone would really like to have.  Personal Creations Personalized Gifts is also a good alternative.  If you don’t have the money to spend, use your crafting powers and make something.  Bake heart shaped cookies if you want.  The important thing is that you gave your best effort in making that day special for that person.  Sometimes the little things mean the most.

Motivations to Diet and Exercise

I have been eating like a goat lately but sometimes it is still hard to avoid eating junk and having the will power to exercise.  However, I found out some things that I do that easily motivates me.  They may sound silly but they work like a charm for me.  Maybe you can also try these and see what happens:

  • After taking a shower, look at your naked body in a full length mirror.  You’ll see the mirror doesn’t lie, even the evil stepmother knows that.
  • Look at before and after pictures of people who has successfully became fit, preferably people you actually know.  If they can do it, so can you!
  • Weigh yourself before eating so you avoid overeating or eating that leftover cake.
  • Take a full body picture of yourself.  This is like the looking at the mirror thing but of course, don’t photoshop your body.  LOL.
  • Browse at online shopping sites and look for clothes that you would like to wear once you lose those extra pounds.
  • Don’t get me wrong.  I’m all for loving yourself and your body but let’s also be honest.  and not use that as an excuse to not be healthy.  I have no plans to be a skeleton but I just want to be fit again.

I Want It So Bad

Those were the words I said after the husband asked, “How bad do you want to lose weight?” He even gave me an option to get B-12 shots to help me because apparently his co workers lost a good amount of weight that way.  I have researched about it and I will admit that there’s this tiny part of my brain that wants it.  However, I decided that before I do anything else, I will have to do it the old fashion way first.  If that doesn’t work then I’ll take other routes.  Now, the old fashion way of course is diet combined with exercise.  To simplify it further, just eat less but move more.  I fail miserably on both parts which made me gain this weight.

This week, I will try to lose 5 pounds. I use “try” because this is a test run.  I have eliminated carbohydrates and essentially sugar except that teaspoon of sugar for my coffee.  I hope I can make it in a week without going crazy.  Haha.  I am such a rice monster and that’s the hardest for me to let go.  I get cranky without my bowl of rice. ;)

As for the exercise part, I will walk first as my first workout then build from that.  I want to be able to jog again without feeling sick.  Also eventually, I want to workout in a good gym like the ones that offer personal training richmond va.  For now, I have to take it one step at a time (no pun intended).  When I accomplish regularly walking, then I’ll step up my game.

Bipolar Weather

That’s the perfect description of the weather here in the Sunshine State. We had our A/C turned on this morning because it was just too hot to sleep (night owls here).  It was a total opposite of the previous night that we were bundled up because it was freezing.  I wouldn’t be surprised if even the wildlife is confused with this kind of weather we are having this year!  The husband is having allergy flare ups too which doesn’t normally happen in the middle of winter.  Fortunately, a trip to an austin allergy doctor could easily resolve the problem.

However, I want to point out too that there are advantages in this type of weather too.  For one, we are given breaks from the awful freezing temperatures.  That means an opportunity to have long brisk walks in the morning or afternoon and we can also bike around the trails. Plus, when it gets cold at least we don’t have to shovel our way out of the driveway.  So I guess, it’s not that bad compared to last year’s endless cold winter months.

My First Mini Album

In the past, I made two albums composed of my digital scrapbook layouts.  I haven’t made anything since.  Lately, I have been wanting to make a traditional mini album because I just love the texture of paper and sometimes I don’t have the patience to wait for printouts.  First week of January, my hands were just itching to make one.  I have some old supplies and some older photos stash away so I figured that was a good time to make use of them.  With some kraft cardstock, patterned paper and few of my old embellishments, I came up with this:
