Need More Practice

With my close calls last week, I definitely need more practice driving.  You are probably wondering why I still haven’t got my license after almost a year of having my learner’s permit.  I have driven all over the place, highways, interstate, different towns  and bridges.  However, my driving practices were too spread out that it always feels like first time driving.  This week though, I have to keep on practicing because I’m quite determine in getting it this year.  It is one of those it’s-now-or-never goals in my life.  I need to get this over with before we get a new auto insurance quote this year.

Driving Moment

As I mentioned on my previous post, I have already started driving on the main road.  We live right next to the highway so there are no small roads to practice on.  I’m thankful though that we live in a small town so that also means fewer vehicles.  My first ever long drive took me to three counties.  I went through the backstreets though because I’m not ready yet for the interstate.

70MPH

Last weekend, I drove again but just on a nearby town.  It was busy there and I was able to practice my stop and turns.  I also practiced reverse parking (which was so difficult for me) at an almost empty parking lot.  On the way home, I got a little brave and took the interstate.  It was a quick 10 mins drive home at 70mph.  I felt accomplished after that but I think I will stay off the freeway for now.  Hehe.

Grill Thrill

We are now officially addicted to grilling. Ever since we bought that grill, we have been grilling whenever we can. I’m not complaining though! :) We both miss eating grilled food but we don’t want to spend a lot of money on a nearby restaurant. It just happened one day. We were in the garden section of the store with all the pond supplies, seeds, soil and what-not, we found a tiny grill.
It was just a spur of the moment decision to buy it. I made pork barbecue before using our slow cooker and the oven. It was good but it just doesn’t taste as good as the grilled. We might try grilling chicken this weekend also.

By the way, I have been driving all over town for days now. It was exciting and nerve racking at the same time. That deserve a separate post though.

Drive Me Nuts

After a year, here I am still learning how to drive.  We had to stall this a bit while we were processing some papers but now that’s done I’m back to driving again.  The husband said that I did well today.  I still have a bit of a trouble of putting the signals because I have not used them at all during practice drives in our yard.  I was relaxed the whole time and I can’t wait to have another driving lesson with the husband.  I was able to do reverse parking, thank you to the java game I always play.  Haha.  Anyway, I still have a lot more things to learn.  I’m still not used to the cruise control and road rules.  Good luck to me.  I can’t wait to start driving on my own.

I think I did so much better compared to the first time I was behind the wheel a couple of years ago.  I was sweating like crazy then like I was just under one of those shower faucets.  Also, I was barefoot because I can’t seem to ‘feel’ the pedals.

It Drives Me Crazy

For the longest time, I have been putting off reading the DMV handouts.  I get excited with the thought of driving but at the same time I’m getting nervous.  Although things can get pretty tricky in the freeway, the small town with its slow moving cars provides comfort somehow.  I will never be the one speeding up but I really hate driving right next to big trucks.  They intimidate me big time.  If I want to go places though, I have to face my fears and just get on with it.  At the age of 28, who knew I will be driving.  With the lack of public transport nearby, I have no choice but to learn how to drive.  My goal for next week is to finally finish up reading that handout then the next step is to get a new online auto insurance.  Once those are settled, then I can get my learner’s permit.  Me and the Husband will probably end up getting our licenses at the same time.  He needs to renew his soon.

Troubled Youth

Yesterday on our way home from our grocery shopping, a kid was in the middle of the road. As our car approached him closer, he also moved to our direction closer. Good thing the husband has the presence of mind to avoid him and swerve else we probably have hit him. His eyes are red so I was thinking, he is most likely drunk or stoned. There was a girl behind the boy that gave us an apologetic wave. She seemed to have been running after him and trying her best (but failed) to keep him off the street. We don’t have our cell phones working and the nearest pay phone does not even work so unfortunately we were not able to call the police. It is a few more miles away from home so we just crossed our fingers that the boy was not hit by other passing cars. I hope our future kids will not be like that else I will end up with wrinkles all over the face. If that will be the case, I might have Maryland facelifts lift the face and remove wrinkles on me for many years. Oh well, I guess we just need to do our best in the parenthood department. Last night, I wondered what is troubling him to want to end his life. *sigh*
