Back On The Road

I had a short-lived driving experience due to some problems with the license. I just got it straightened out finally after a trip to the big city. All is well now and my eyes were twinkling when I read the “safe driver” note at the bottom. Hehe. Now, the next ordeal is with driving itself. It has been months since I drove and I’m still a newbie. Everything is a little bit more complicated because we are now living in a bigger city. I’m still lacking in the confidence department but practice makes perfect as they say. Sooner or later, I want to be able to drive myself to different places. Sometimes I think about getting a motorcycle endorsement but I’m not planning on riding one on the road. I only want it because I like ATVs but I’m not sure if they are considered as “motorcycles”. I just thought it would be fun to do a mini atv racing with the husband here in our big front lawn.

All About Esmeralda

It has been awhile since I drove our car. The husband once asked me if I miss driving and I gave him a resounding no.  I’m still a new driver and I get easily nervous when I’m driving. However, I want to be independent and drive myself to places. Oh well, that will take a lot of practice and perseverance.  I still need to get my driver’s license straightened out and then I will have to learn to drive again.

Also, it is time again to pay the car insurance. I was hoping we can delay this but there is no such thing as that because it’s illegal to have no insurance. Now that we moved to a busier town, our insurance rate doubled to my dismay. I will have to find an alternative and look up some auto insurance plans at cheapestautoinsurance.net.

Need More Practice

With my close calls last week, I definitely need more practice driving.  You are probably wondering why I still haven’t got my license after almost a year of having my learner’s permit.  I have driven all over the place, highways, interstate, different towns  and bridges.  However, my driving practices were too spread out that it always feels like first time driving.  This week though, I have to keep on practicing because I’m quite determine in getting it this year.  It is one of those it’s-now-or-never goals in my life.  I need to get this over with before we get a new auto insurance quote this year.

Driving Moment

As I mentioned on my previous post, I have already started driving on the main road.  We live right next to the highway so there are no small roads to practice on.  I’m thankful though that we live in a small town so that also means fewer vehicles.  My first ever long drive took me to three counties.  I went through the backstreets though because I’m not ready yet for the interstate.

70MPH

Last weekend, I drove again but just on a nearby town.  It was busy there and I was able to practice my stop and turns.  I also practiced reverse parking (which was so difficult for me) at an almost empty parking lot.  On the way home, I got a little brave and took the interstate.  It was a quick 10 mins drive home at 70mph.  I felt accomplished after that but I think I will stay off the freeway for now.  Hehe.

Grill Thrill

We are now officially addicted to grilling. Ever since we bought that grill, we have been grilling whenever we can. I’m not complaining though! :) We both miss eating grilled food but we don’t want to spend a lot of money on a nearby restaurant. It just happened one day. We were in the garden section of the store with all the pond supplies, seeds, soil and what-not, we found a tiny grill.
It was just a spur of the moment decision to buy it. I made pork barbecue before using our slow cooker and the oven. It was good but it just doesn’t taste as good as the grilled. We might try grilling chicken this weekend also.

By the way, I have been driving all over town for days now. It was exciting and nerve racking at the same time. That deserve a separate post though.
