Merry Blogging Day 9: Movie Marathon

movie marathon

I’m trying to catch up with the movies that I missed.  So today, I decided to watch three movies in a row while I work on some household chores.  I watched these on my own as the husband is not really interested with girly movies which is totally understandable.  Hehe.

Halloween Recap

After having dinner, we carved some pumpkins.  I always look forward to this activity each year and the husband knows that.  He actually thought I already have an image in mind as to what to carve when in fact that I don’t.  All I know is that I don’t want to make the usual Jack O’ Lantern face.  I only did that the first and has never done that again.  He seem to like that idea so we both browsed online for images to use.  Well, he did carve a face but an awesome face (really, that what it’s called)!  On the other hand, I made a cute carving of Chococat and I’m quite proud of my work, hehe.

Halloween is incomplete without a scary movie so of course we have to watch one.  We watched a 1978 version of the “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”.

I just had to use this screencap because it looks so funny. :-D

Then, it was time to sleep and enjoy this cold weather.  Another Halloween is over.

Out on a Chilly Day

Today, I was able to go out from my little hole and explore the world.  I went out with the husband today and watched “The Thing” which is a prequel of the 80’s movie.  I won’t write down spoilers here but as expected, the movie is filled with startling scenes and a bunch of cgi.  In short, it is your typical Hollywood scary movie.

 The Thing 2011

After the movie, we had Chinese food which was mostly seafood.  I did not enjoy it this time.  We agreed to take a break from Chinese food in at least a month.  While we were in the city, we browsed around two stores.  First, the toy store just because we both wanted to see what are they selling right now.  Then, instead of my usual Target visit, we went to an art supply store for a change.  It felt like I haven’t been in one for ages!  Beads, scrapbooking supplies, fabrics etc. were all over the place.  My eyes were pleased but they were also getting tired.  I went home empty handed.  No biggie because shopping is the farthest thing in my mind right now.  Anyway, it was nice to be out and about once again. No plans for tomorrow but I hope it involves being outside of the house once again.

Movie Night: Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch

I have been waiting for this movie for months! I finally got to watch it last Sunday night. Despite the err tummy troubles from eating Chinese food, we went out and watched the movie anyway. I love all the actions scenes of Baby Doll. I’m not a big fan of Sweet Pea though because I have never been fond of Abbie Cornish. As for Vanessa Hudgens, she didn’t do much in the movie. Her role seems to be more like a cameo.

There were three worlds in the movie. My favorite is the fantasy world because that’s where you see all the actions. Somehow the effects reminds me of Lord of the Rings and there was a scene in there where you see Orcs. I kid you NOT. I went there for the fight scenes and good cinematography. The story was bland but doesn’t suck as much as War of the Worlds or Tron:Legacy. Emily Browning played the role well. She seems to be always get the young crazy girl roles. Remember, Uninvited? As for the cinematography, it looks like a hybrid of Watchmen and Sin City.

I can just imagine the girls’ outfit as Halloween costumes. However, if you plan to don Baby Doll’s clothes, a flat stomach is a requirement. Start stocking up on conjugated linoleic acid (cla) now. There’s still a couple of months to go to work those abs out.

From Manhattan to Nashville

I’m not a big fan of Gwyneth Paltrow so when she guested in SNL to promote her new movie, “Country Strong”, I couldn’t care less. However, when I heard Leighton Meester is also in the movie, that got my attention. You know how much I like watching Gossip Girl that I never missed a single episode. And of course, Blair Waldorf is my favorite character in the show. With that said, I immediately search for the trailer of the movie and instead I found a clip of her singing. On her previous music recordings, the music drowns out her sweet voice. Country music suits her well and I think she should stick with it. Watch Out Taylor Swift, there’s a new kid an Upper Eastsider in town!
